Our next intake of Chartered (ACA) and Certified (ACCA) Accountants will be in September 2009 and we will be accepting applications for these positions from 1st September 2008.

If you have already obtained your degree (or equivalent) or are about to do so, then this route may be the one you wish to pursue.
Whether your preference is to study ACA or ACCA the study covers the same subject areas and takes the same amount of time to complete to qualify.
Training is undertaken with leading training providers (usually FTC or BPP) and consists of periods of block release to attend courses with exams being spread over the 3-year training period. There are a series of computer based exams designed to test your technical knowledge and these lead on to further exams which test your ability to apply this knowledge. You will need to be prepared to study in your own time too in order to make sure that you get the most from your studies and of course to achieve exam success. Alongside this you will be developing your skills and knowledge by undertaking a wide range of work in the office, which will cover a full range of business advisory and accounts work, which will both reinforce and enhance your studies and help you to achieve your goal of becoming a qualified accountant.
Chartered Tax Accountant (CTA)
Our next intake of Chartered Tax Accountants (CTA) will be in September 2009 and we will be accepting applications for these positions from 1st September 2008.

If you have already obtained your degree (or equivalent) or are about to do so then this route may be the one you wish to pursue.
You may already have decided as a result of your qualifications or personal interest that a career in mainstream accounts and business advisory is not for you but that tax is. If so you may wish to train as a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA). To do this you will first need to study as a Tax Technician (ATT) and then progress to CTA.
Training is undertaken with a leading training provider with periods of block/day release. The syllabus covers the various different areas of tax and also some accounting and law. Alongside this you will gain practical experience from the work that you do in the office. As with any professional qualification you will also need to be prepared to study in your own time to maximise your learning. Exams are based on a modular structure and are sat in May or November each year.
Accounting Technician (AAT)/Certified Accounting Technician (CAT)
www.aat.co.uk
If you have, or are expecting, good A level results which include maths then this route will be just right for you. The full qualification is in 3 stages and can be achieved in 2 to 3 years depending on your A level subjects. Not only is the AAT a professional qualification in its own right but it is also recognised as a level 4 NVQ.
Training is on a day release basis at a local training college, with exams being taken in June and December. This will be combined with on the job training covering a wide range of business advisory and accounts work. You will also need to be prepared to study in your own time, so that you get the most out of your studies and of course pass your exams.
Once you’ve obtained your qualification there are opportunities to go on to study ACA/ACCA - because you are already a qualified AAT/CAT, you receive some exam exemptions.
During your training there will be lots of opportunities as you experience the wide range of business advisory and accounts work, for you to consider where you want your career to go. We will discuss this with you throughout your training so that together we can help you to achieve your goals.
